Fountaine Pajot’s New FPY120S Brings Superyacht Scale to the Sailing Catamaran

Fountaine Pajot Yachts is redefining the modern sailing catamaran with the introduction of the 35.5-metre FPY120S, an ambitious new yacht created to combine the commanding presence of a superyacht with the unmistakable character and freedom of a sailing catamaran. While the latest unveiling centres on the sailing model, the FPY120 platform will also be offered in a motor configuration, giving owners the freedom to shape the experience around their preferred way of travelling at sea.

Conceived around movement, balance and an intimate connection with the ocean, the FPY120S carries an impressive 657-square-metre upwind sail area, while its naval architecture places equal emphasis on generous volume, natural light and uninterrupted views. Across three decks, the yacht creates a sophisticated collection of indoor and outdoor environments designed for relaxed living, entertaining and extended time on the water. The 102-square-metre main saloon flows toward a vast 143-square-metre aft cockpit, while a 72-square-metre beach club at the stern opens directly onto the sea, creating an inviting platform for swimming, lounging and enjoying the water.

Above the main deck, an enclosed flybridge provides a more secluded living environment, while the panoramic saloon is framed by expansive butterfly opening windows that dissolve the boundary between interior and exterior. With an overall beam of 14.81 metres, a draft of 2.8 metres and an interior volume of 490 GT, the FPY120S delivers remarkable scale while retaining the relaxed, open character expected of a large catamaran.

Accommodation is arranged for up to 12 guests and eight crew, with a full-beam owner’s suite offering direct access to the ocean and an especially intimate relationship with the surrounding seascape. Twin 913-horsepower engines come as standard, while owners can opt for twin 1,318-horsepower engines when additional performance is desired.

Supporting the yacht’s long-range ambitions are integrated systems for energy generation, resource management and water production, all developed to enhance autonomy and make extended periods away from shore more comfortable and self-sufficient.

Perhaps the most distinctive quality of the FPY120S lies in the philosophy behind its design. Rather than presenting owners with a predetermined interpretation of luxury, Fountaine Pajot Yachts describes the platform as a reference architecture that can evolve through an ongoing collaboration between the owner, designers and shipyard.

Materials, layouts and living spaces can be tailored to individual requirements, allowing each yacht to develop its own character while retaining the underlying DNA of the FPY120 platform. The result is a compelling expression of contemporary yachting substantial yet graceful, highly sophisticated yet connected to the natural environment, and conceived not simply as a vessel for travelling across the ocean, but as a private world designed around the art of living at sea.
