In December 2026, 67 Pall Mall will bring its celebrated private members’ wine club to mainland China for the first time, unveiling an elegant new destination within Shanghai’s historic Grand Mansion at No. 7 Donghu Road in Xuhui District. The arrival marks a significant expansion for the British founded institution, extending its international community of discerning wine collectors into one of Asia’s most dynamic luxury capitals.

The setting is as distinguished as the cellar itself. Constructed in 1925 by British financier Raymond Joseph, the French Renaissance-style villa has witnessed moments of considerable historical significance, including discussions between Richard Nixon and Zhou Enlai. Now approaching its second century, the storied residence is poised to begin a new chapter as a gathering place for Shanghai’s most passionate oenophiles.

Across 1,330 square metres and several floors, the club will welcome more than 200 guests through 15 individually conceived spaces. A grand salon, garden sunroom, dedicated spirits bar and wine library establish an atmosphere that balances intimate discovery with the understated grandeur of a traditional private club. Inside, Suzhou-embroidered peacock screens introduce an expression of Chinese artistry, bringing regional craftsmanship into dialogue with the villa’s European architectural heritage.

At the heart of the experience lies an ambitious wine programme designed to rank among mainland China’s most comprehensive. More than 5,000 bottles from over 40 countries will anchor a collection offering approximately 1,000 wines by the glass. Through direct relationships with châteaux and a pricing philosophy built around lower markups, the club aims to make exceptional bottles more accessible for exploration. Equal attention is given to China’s emerging winemaking landscape, with more than 1,000 domestic selections showcasing distinctive terroirs from Ningxia, Xinjiang and Yunnan.

The culinary offering brings another dimension to the experience. Acclaimed Singaporean chef Ang Song Kang will lead a kitchen pairing refined regional Chinese cuisine with signature dishes drawn from the London club’s established repertoire. The result promises a meeting of culinary traditions shaped around the pleasures of the table and the subtleties of the glass.

Membership will be limited to 1,500 individuals, preserving an atmosphere of exclusivity while connecting Shanghai’s wine community to a wider international network. Through its established clubs in London, Verbier and Singapore, 67 Pall Mall has cultivated a global gathering place for collectors, industry figures and enthusiasts united by a shared appreciation of wine.

With its historic setting, internationally sourced cellar and distinctly local character, the Shanghai opening represents more than a new private members’ address. It signals the continued evolution of a global wine culture in which heritage, discovery and meaningful connections remain the ultimate luxuries.
