Mercedes-Benz has unveiled a car designed in collaboration with Virgil Abloh along with a collection of clothing designed by the late fashion designer’s Off-White brand. Abloh passed away in November 2021 after being diagnosed with cardiac angiosarcoma in 2019. However, his heritage and expertise will forever live on with the new Maybach by Virgil Abloh.
Created in partnership with Mercedes‑Benz Group AG Chief Design Officer Gorden Wagener in 2021, Maybach by Virgil Abloh available in a strictly limited run of 150 units. The Maybach by Virgil Abloh is a specially curated version of the Mercedes-Maybach S680 sedan complete with the potent 6.0-liter twin-turbo V12 engine that produces 621 horsepower and 664 pound-feet of torque.
The car builds on the design of the Project Maybach concept car – a two-tone color scheme with a beige main color and a contrasting black roof, hood, bonnet, and pillars, was also designed together with Abloh. The signature Maybach 20-inch wheels are also finished in the same beige hue and while.
Inside, there’s an identical two-tone color scheme with black and sand Nappa leather as far as the eye can see, with matching high-pile floor mats, embroidery and trim. From the center screen above, nearly everything is finished in black leather. The center console, Mercedes-Maybach says it now runs a personalized user interface, which is a “more luxurious” variation of the MBUX system of the automaker. The window frames are painted, and a special Mercedes-Maybach and Virgil Abloh logo is inscribed on the piano black middle of the centre-console, rear cushions, head restraints and door sill panel.
The Maybach by Virgil Abloh will be available to order exclusively on Off-White, Farfetch and Maybach Icons of Luxury online stores, as well as Off-White physical retail locations in select countries. The owners will receive a special custom-made wooden box covered in sand-colored Nappa leather emblazoned with the Mercedes‑Maybach and Virgil Abloh logo. The gift box includes a 1/18 scale replica of the limited-edition car, the two-car keys and a carabiner hook. Discover Opulent Club on Apple news.
