Richard Mille RM 72-01 Lifestyle In-House Chronograph

Swiss Haute horology brand Richard Mille continues to push the limits of luxury watchmaking with its latest watch manufacturer to be equipped with a flyback chronograph that is entirely produced in-house with a mechanism patented by the brand the RM 72-01 Lifestyle In-House Chronograph.

The case is a brushed titanium finish and available in both silver with a white rubber strap and gold with a black rubber strap.  It features Richard Mille’s in-house CRMC1 calibre skeletonized movement with automatic bidirectional winding and hours, minutes, small seconds, date, flyback chronograph, function indicator and stop seconds with a 50-hour power reserve.

As per Richard Mille, the new watch was machined out of grade 5 titanium, a biocompatible, highly corrosion-resistant and remarkably rigid alloy, providing the gear train functions smoothly. The alloy is 90% titanium, 6% aluminium and 4% vanadium.  The RM 072-02 has an unusual three-counter layout that has the registers at one, five, and nine o’clock, with oversized Arabic hour numerals in between. At seven o’clock sits the date display, and at three the crown-function indicator, the display indicates if the crown is in winding, setting, or neutral position.

The model comes in a case measuring 38.40 x 47.34 x 11.68 mm, designed in Tonneau style, which has become the symbol of the brand. The case, which is resistant to water pressure up to 30 ensured by three Nitrile O-ring seals, is accompanied by 20 titanium screws and 316L stainless steel washers. Sapphire crystals with anti-reflective coating on both sides are used at the front and rear sides of the case.
