River cruising is entering a new chapter as Transcend Cruises prepares to introduce its first purpose-built vessel designed specifically for private charters and elevated group experiences. The company has also announced a partnership with Dutch wellness brand Rituals, bringing its signature “Mind Oasis by Rituals” concept onboard to create a deeper focus on relaxation, mindfulness, and holistic wellbeing.

At the center of this transformation is Connect, a groundbreaking new river yacht designed by Sweden’s Tillberg Design of Sweden (TDoS), part of the Viken Group. Rather than following the traditional blueprint of river cruise ships, Connect challenges convention with a design philosophy inspired by contemporary superyachts and luxury residences.
For decades, river vessels have prioritized practicality over aesthetics, adopting low profiles, flat structures, and box-like silhouettes to navigate Europe’s bridges and waterways. Connect takes a different approach. Its sculpted reverse bow, flowing exterior lines, and elegant curves create a more dynamic profile typically associated with private yachts rather than traditional riverboats.

The yacht-like philosophy continues throughout the interiors. Instead of the formal and sometimes predictable style found on conventional cruise ships, Connect embraces a refined residential atmosphere featuring natural woods, textured stone, warm metallic accents, and sophisticated fabrics. The result is an environment that feels closer to an exclusive boutique hotel or private residence than a commercial vessel.
“Our ambition was to create an environment that immediately feels welcoming, spacious, and connected to its surroundings,” said Anna Silvesjö, CEO of Viken Group. “Rather than creating the feeling of being inside a ship, we wanted guests to feel as though they were moving through a contemporary boutique hotel or private yacht that just happens to travel along Europe’s rivers.”

Designed for discerning travelers seeking exclusivity, Connect accommodates up to 120 guests across 60 spacious staterooms on two decks. These accommodations can also be transformed into 30 larger suites, offering greater flexibility for private groups and luxury charter experiences. With 54 crew members dedicated to guest service, the vessel offers one of the most personalized crew-to-guest experiences in the river cruising industry.
The centerpiece of the yacht is “The Forum,” a dramatic two-story amphitheater-style gathering space designed for private celebrations, live performances, presentations, and exclusive events. Additional amenities include elegant lounges, private salons, a barista café, library, chef’s table, wine vault, spa, fitness studio, yoga area, and sauna.

The upper deck further enhances the experience with an outdoor grill, open-air entertainment spaces, and a cinema under the stars allowing guests to fully immerse themselves in Europe’s iconic riverscapes. Technology has also been seamlessly integrated throughout the vessel, allowing spaces to adapt effortlessly between intimate gatherings, corporate retreats, and private celebrations. The philosophy is simple: luxury should feel effortless.

Sustainability is another key element of Connect’s design. Powered by low-emission EU Stage V engines, the vessel combines performance with environmental responsibility. An electric thruster system also allows for short periods of emissions free operation while navigating waterways. Currently undergoing final outfitting at Den Breejen Shipyard in the Netherlands, Connect represents a new vision for river travel one where exploration meets yacht-inspired design, wellness, and personalized luxury.

With its arrival, Transcend Cruises aims to transform European river journeys from traditional sightseeing experiences into sophisticated private escapes for a new generation of luxury travelers.
