The Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Carolina Bucci Edition

Audemars Piguet and Italian jewelry designer Carolina Bucci have joined forces to create a new version of the iconic timepiece Royal Oak in a shimmering “frosted gold”. The case and the entire bracelet of the watch is hand-finished in Frosted Gold, wherein the gold is all hand hammered to achieve an incredibly shimmering look.

Limited edition of 300 pieces, measures 37 mm in diameter, matching the dimensions of the larger of the two versions released in 2016. For the first time, the “diamond dust” finish appears in yellow gold, Carolina Bucci’s favorite version of this precious metal.

“When I was considering this new watch, I wanted to create a dynamic contrast of surfaces and settled on the idea of taking the tapisserie dial in the opposite direction towards pure reflection,” says Carolina Bucci. “I was drawn to the idea of the appearance of no surface at all, like when you see a calm lake framed by nothing but trees and the sky … the water almost disappears.”

The mirror finish dial is the ultimate touch on a watch that turns heads at a glance under a glareproofed sapphire crystal, has appled indices and luminous-treated hands in the classical Royal Oak Style. Another sapphire crystal in the caseback offers a view of the self-winding movement, with a 3-Hz frequency and a 60-hour power reserve. The watch is housed in a mirrored box that bears a Frosted Gold AP insignia. This box is also designed by Carolina Bucci, who believes in pulling out luxury watch packaging from the back of the closet to put it on display.
