Presented in 2017, the Patrimony Moon Phase Retrograde Date in white and pink gold versions, is one of Vacheron Constantin’s signature watches. Mainly characterised by its display combining a retrograde date and a moon indicator, this watch, previously available in pink or white gold, now joins Vacheron’s full-platinum family.
Limited to just 50 numbered units for the Collection Excellence Platine. Entirely faithful to the spirit of the Patrimony collection, drawing inspiration from the watches created by the Maison in the 1950s, this timepiece bears witness to the minimalist aesthetic approach with a concern for detail aimed at achieving perfectly balanced lines. The new Moon Phase Retrograde Date Excellence Platine sees its case made of 950 platinum, while keeping its relatively large 42.5mm diameter and smooth bezel. The case is entirely polished and features short, sloped lugs. An elegant watch with modern proportions.
The timelessly elegant case houses the self-winding Manufacture 2460 R31L calibre with its precision moon phase and retrograde pointer-type date display. For optimal user- friendliness, all function settings are performed via the crown. The transparent sapphire caseback provides a chance to admire this 275-part movement, notably the circular-grained surface of its mainplate and its openworked 22-carat gold oscillating weight inspired by Vacheron Constantin’s Maltese cross emblem.
The moon phases are displayed through an aperture at 6 o’clock, graduated from 0 to 291⁄2, serving to count off the number of days elapsed since the last new moon, with its disc also made of 950 platinum and engraved to show the moon and stars. The upper half of the dial is framed by a semi-circular date track, with a retrograde indication. Balanced and elegant, this display has been retained in this Excellence Platine edition.
