Dutch yachting builder Zeelander revealed the new 48-foot Zeelander 5 at the Cannes Yachting Festival. Expected to hit the water in mid-2022, the Zeelander 5 is characterized by curvy lines, a sporty S-shaped shearline, and improved functionality. The Dutch yard claims it’s the quietest vessel in its class, even when cruising at full tilt.
“At Zeelander, we want to inspire people to be extraordinary,” said founder Sietse Koopmans. “The Zeelander 5 is an embodiment of that philosophy. A sophisticated yacht that stands out and can be personalised to its owner’s taste. The exterior is a continuation of the lines of the successful Z72 and the interior design is truly exceptional for a yacht of this size.”
With a beam of 14 feet, the vessel offers a generous living area that can be outfitted in a range of materials and finishes to match each seafarer’s personal taste. The styles available include Classical, Contemporary, Modern or Nautical. Zeelander 5 has improved functionality side-boarding doors and a passarelle allow easy entry, a full walkaround cockpit gives access to the swim platform. And most importantly, the 48-footer can be opened up for the summer months with a sunroof and retractable sliding window aft, or sealed off for winter.
There’s a master bedroom below deck, with a leather-clad dressing table, and a dedicated dressing area. The sophisticated ambient lighting concept runs to an illuminated sill under each door. A luxurious V-shaped twin forward features a TV and a hatch overhead. The separate shower and toilet also offer an exceptional standard of finish. The suite offers surround views out on the water. The main lounge, meanwhile, offers 360-degree views and comes complete with an elegant galley and a dining area for seven with hand-stitched leather seating.
The yacht can be powered by twin or triple Volvo Penta IPS 500 or 650 pods, for a maximum of 1,440hp. Volvo’s Assisted Docking technology makes light of close-quarters maneuvering. Thanks to top-notch sound and vibration proofing, Zeelander claims all you’ll hear is the sound of the wake while tearing it up.
The Zeelander 5 is expected in mid-2022, but no pricing has been revealed as of the time of press.
