Bella Hadid opened the Fendi Fall/Winter 2022 runway show in a delicate sheer slip teamed with a cropped furry jacket and long green cashmere gloves, setting a softer tone for the collection than we’ve seen in the past. The womenswear artistic director Kim Jones has made it clear that he’s always very respectful of the Fendi women and history behind the label.
Jones works alongside Delettrez’s the founding family’s scion Silvia Venturini Fendi, who looks after menswear and accessories, at the Rome-based label. He turned specifically to two collections designed by his predecessor, the late Karl Lagerfeld: Fendi’s spring/summer 1986 and autumn/winter 2000 lines, reworking prints and styles. Combining these two references, the designer incorporated sheer chiffon to dresses, two-piece sets, trousers and more, accompanied by long gloves and cropped jackets. For an added nostalgic touch, models accessorized with tinted oval glasses.
“The best place to explore the Fendi archives is through the Fendi wardrobes,” Jones said in show notes. “And these are collections which, although they come from the past, feel very now.”
Further standouts from the collection included a pocketed belt that cinches the waist while holding essentials like a phone, as well as corset tops paired with midi-length skirts highlighted with chiffon detailing. As a continuation of Jones’ FW22 menswear collection, the “O’Lock” print was applied to select outfits.
Aside from the aforementioned slips, further standouts from the collection included a pocketed belt that cinches the waist while holding essentials like a phone, as well as corset tops paired with midi-length skirts highlighted with chiffon detailing. For accessories, Venturini Fendi marked 25 years of the brand’s Baguette bag by bringing back editions in cashmere, shearling-lined leather and intarsia mink. Discover Opulent Club on Apple News.
