With Lunar New Year fast approaching on February 10 the Year of the Dragon, Hublot commemorates the occasion with the unveiling of the Spirit of Big Bang Titanium Dragon. Created in collaboration with the Chinese artist Chen Fenwan, this limited edition of 88 pieces is the perfect fusion of tradition and modernity.
Drawing inspiration from the traditional Chinese art of paper cutting, the watch features a multi-dimensional design that forms a 3D silhouette of an eastern dragon, symbolizing luck, strength, wisdom, and immortality. The Spirit of Big Bang Titanium Dragon serves as a metaphor for Hublot’s philosophy – the ‘Art of Fusion.’ It represents the continual reimagining of materials and their areas of expression. The dragon’s intricate design, with hands, cogs, and screws forming its silhouette, is a testament to the brand’s commitment to creating a different way to interpret time.
The dragon’s head, composed of five layers alternating between hands, wheels, and H-shaped screws, extends into the body comes with a second titanium-grey Velcro fabric strap. The colors of the watch reflect the vibrant hues of the paper cut-out sculpture created by Chen Fen Wan.
The Spirit of Big Bang Titanium Dragon is housed in a 42 mm titanium case. The multi-level dial construction incorporates the aesthetic codes of Hublot’s components, creating a visually captivating timepiece. The watch, powered by the HUB1710 automatic movement with a 50-hour power reserve. This release from Hublot is not just a timepiece but a fusion of art, culture, and advanced horological technology.
