Louis Vuitton launches a capsule collection dedicated to utilitarian clothing as part of Paris to VA, the brand’s FW24 menswear show, created by Creative Director Pharrel Williams. The capsule delves into the American Western origins of workwear through the lens of Louis Vuitton’s craftsmanship.
At the heart of the collection are the Ready-to-wear pieces, which features characteristic yokes and leather appliqué motifs from Western wardrobes on the pockets of trucker jackets and coats, which are designed in sculpturally voluminous cuts true to the functional lines of American workwear, while the overcoats are designed to keep the wearer warm. With a range of styles to choose from, including a classic trench coat and a more modern bomber jacket, each piece is crafted with the highest attention to detail.
A standout element of the collection includes a range of accessories like the Keepall 50 Toolbox, a reinterpretation of the Maison’s iconic bag, this time through the sieve of utilitarian aesthetics. Created in the image of the distinctive toolbox from the origins of American utilitarian clothing, the Keepall embodies a new functionality. Crafted from natural leather, the bag is composed of multiple pockets and exterior rivets, and is lined with Monogram canvas.
The capsule collection introduces the first-ever workwear boot collaboration between Louis Vuitton and Timberland. Set to release later this year, notably, the LV 6-Inch boot launches in two designs and several adaptations. The boot features a signature rubber lug outsole, elegant LV Monogram embossments, Monogram-embossed tongue linings, Louis Vuitton eyelets, and leather tags in traditional wheat color or black.
Lastly, in typical Pharrell Williams fashion the LV 6-INCH ankle boot is given a luxe, elevated makeover, a ranger boot with an elongated shaft and strap details, a pull-on mid boot with bag puller details and brown leather ankle cuffs, and a pull-on harness boot with side buckles and a harness. Taking things up a notch, the pair is embellished with 18K gold LV tongue initials, Louis Vuitton eyelets, lace tips, and tag hardware, with the LV tongue initials being inscribed with the words “THE SUN IS SHINING ON US,” a sentiment laid out by Pharrell Williams upon his debut show for Louis Vuitton way back in June 2023.
A Louis Vuitton x Timberland workwear boot will initially be up for grabs via pre-launch on July 18th, with a full worldwide release arriving on August 8th.
