French Cognac brand, the House of Delamain, is celebrating 200 years with the release of L’Edition Rare du Bicentenaire, a blend of five rare extra-old Cognacs exclusively from the prestigious Grande Champagne terroir. Each of these components has been carefully selected and nurtured by successive generations of Delamain cellar masters, ensuring that the cognac embodies the house’s unparalleled expertise and devotion to perfection.
The five eaux-de-vie were chosen by successive generations of Delamain cellar masters. Dominique Touteau and Charles Braastad was key to balancing these extra-old eaux-de-vie, which have achieved such an advanced stage of maturity. Their combined efforts were able to tame the spirits’ feisty personalities and compose an extremely harmonious cognac telling a tale of 200 years. Despite its advanced age, this legendary blend reveals a surprisingly fresh and fruity tasting profile, drawing admiration with its remarkable depth, vibrant aromas, and captivating elegance.
Delamain partnered with the renowned Parisian Maison d’Art Goossens, celebrated for its mastery of goldsmithing. Goossens has transformed the iconic 10-litre dame-jeanne into a work of art, adorned with a 245-piece sculpture, achieved through seven meticulous stages of craftsmanship, including bronze casting and gold plating, inspired by the natural world and the Grande Champagne vineyards. This collaboration is a testament to the shared values of excellence and innovation between Delamain and one of Chanel’s prestigious Maisons d’art.
The dame-jeanne will be auctioned online by Bonhams between November 19th and December 6th. The winning bidder will also receive a 70cl bottle of L’edition Rare du Bicentenaire and be invited along with 3 guests to an immersive experience in Delamain’s Jarnac cellars.
