Each year, the shores of Lake Como play host to some of the world’s most exquisite and sought-after automobiles, and in 2025, the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este once again offered an unforgettable display of automotive artistry. This year, BMW unveiled its latest design statement: the BMW Concept Speedtop a daring three-door evolution of the Touring lineage, following last year’s acclaimed Skytop concept.

Like the Skytop before it, the Speedtop is built upon the foundation of the production 8-Series, yet it wears a bespoke, hand-crafted exterior. Look closely, and you’ll catch a glimpse of the shark-like grin reminiscent of the original E24 6-Series in its front fascia. The Speedtop’s face is defined by pronounced horizontal lines and an expanded kidney grille a clear nod to the aggressive, streamlined nose of a shark. Despite its grand proportions, the BMW model is configured as a two-seater, allowing both occupants to enjoy exceptional space and comfort on the road.

The Speedtop boasts a striking silhouette, defined by its V-shaped shark-nose front and a sweeping roofline that transitions in a stunning gradient from “Floating Sunstone Maroon” to “Floating Sundown Silver.”

The interior exudes luxury like a warm, leather-scented breeze. Every surface is adorned with brogue-style detailing—a tribute to fine craftsmanship—that elevates the tactile richness of the leather. It’s a cabin where precision meets artistry, and where elegance and practicality come together like old friends setting off on a weekend escape. The trunk area features a two-tiered floor, offering enough space to accommodate a few luxury travel bags. However, despite the car’s grand exterior proportions, the cargo space isn’t as expansive as it might appear—after all, it’s still built on the 8-Series platform.

Naturally, a concept of this caliber wouldn’t be complete without bespoke accessories. Enter Schedoni—the legendary Italian leather atelier renowned for crafting luggage for the world’s most exclusive automobiles. Two custom-designed bags are elegantly strapped behind the seats, while a matching weekend bag sits neatly in the trunk, all echoing the interior’s refined aesthetic. It’s a seamless blend of form, function, and unmistakable Italian craftsmanship.

Under the sculpted hood lies BMW’s most potent V8 engine, promising performance as commanding as its dramatic design. This isn’t just a showpiece—it’s a machine built to move, and move fast.

Last year’s Concept Skytop caused a stir, with just 50 units produced—each swiftly claimed by collectors. Now, the Speedtop picks up where it left off, with only 70 units slated for production. It’s a rare chance for those in the know to own a piece of design and performance history.
