Bulgari made quite an impact last year when it unveiled its record-breaking, ultra-thin Octo Finissimo Automatic. For this year as part of the pre-Baselworld 2018 collection, Bulgari has unveiled a new version of the Octo Chronograph l’Originale Velocissimo in titanium, consolidating the fundamentals of the Octo in a new stealth and technical version.
Octo L’Originale Chronograph, a three-counter chronograph powered by the self-winding BVL 328 Velocissimo calibre, a high-frequency (5 Hz) mechanical movement equipped with a silicon escapement. Beating at 36,000 vibrations per hour/5 Hz, it allows for the precision measurement of 1/10 of a second. Chamfered, snailed and adorned with Côtes de Genève motif, this column-wheel chronograph offers 50 hours of power reserve and is visible through the transparent caseback.
The modernity and purity of the design are enhanced by the clean design of the dial with a matte finish. The signature baton-style hour markers and elongated Arabic numerals at 12 and 6 o’clock are paired with openwork dauphine-style hands. Water-resistant to 100 metres / 330 feet, the 41 mm titanium case frames a grey dial with PVD-treated black hands and applied hour markers as well as a small date window between 4 and 5 o’clock.
The Bulgari Octo L’Originale Chronograph (ref. 102859) has a price of Euro 9,950. bulgari.com
