Introduced in 2015 after 7 years of research and development, the New Retro by de Grisogono met with rave reviews from the press and customers. With the New Retro Power Reserve presented at Baselworld 2018, de Grisogono expands its New Retro collection and adds a new complication to the line.
The new model maintains several design elements of the New Retro Skeleton Tourbillon launched last year. Constructed with a rectangular case worn horizontally on the wrist. The in-line calibre is skeletonised so as to reveal the exquisite delicacy of its finishing. This sophisticated mechanism can be admired through the openworking, held by stylised anthracite rhodium-plated bridges with a structure subtly reminiscent of the radiator grilles on vintage cars.
The case is polished in pink or white gold with crown at 12 o’clock, the 48-hour power-reserve gauge, the imposing dimensions of 44 x 51 x 12.3 mm. The mechanism of the 4 Hz (28,800 vph) hand-wound movement can be admired through the openworking revealing the excellent finishes of the circular satin-brushed gear train, the sunburst ratchet wheel and the sandblasted mainplate.
Water-resistant to 30 metres / 100 feet, the de Grisogono New Retro Power Reserve is matched to an alligator leather strap featuring large square scales and a saddle finish.
