Jaquet Droz has modernized the Grande Seconde into a ‘modern evolution of an icon’. Jaquet Droz is now launching a new variation of this model that boldly combines classic elements with hi-tech materials. The Grande Seconde Power Reserve Ceramic Clous de Paris has combined contemporary materials with an age-old finish to bring a watchmaking classic into the 21st century.
Housed in a 44 mm glossy black ceramic case, the dial of the new Grande Seconde Power Reserve Ceramic Clous de Paris comes in midnight-blue with a distinctive Clous de Paris finish, a special type of guilloché work made up of criss-crossed lines that form small pyramids. The two sub-dials combine Roman and Arabic numerals and intersect to create the figure 8, the symbol of Jaquet Droz.
Thanks to its two barrels, the Grande Seconde’s self-winding Jaquet Droz 4063D-S movement ensures a power reserve of 68 hours. This generous autonomy is accentuated on the dial by a semi-circular sector positioned at 9 o’clock.
The ceramic is virtually scratch-proof and unalterable which makes the new design ideal for everyday use while the Clous de Paris brings back the classic touch for which the Grande Seconde is known. The Jaquet Droz Grande Seconde Power Reserve Ceramic Clous de Paris with blue dial is a limited series of 28 pieces, certified by an individual number engraved on the case back, with a price of Swiss Francs 17,300. jaquetdroz.com
