This year A. Lange & Söhne is celebrating the 25th anniversary of the Lange 1 – which was born in 1994 and part of the inaugural “relaunch” collection the most successful watch of the Saxon brand.
The brand already released a “25th Anniversary” Lange 1 earlier this year, but February now sees the release of an anniversary model in the form of a Grand Lange 1 Moon Phase to coincide with the opening of a new London boutique. Its special features include an argenté- coloured dial made of solid silver with blue-printed numbers, indices and a blue date and a colour-coordinated blue alligator leather strap with grey stitching. And for the first time, A. Lange & Söhne used a hand-engraved lunar disc made of solid white gold. Six stars and numerous small dots have been engraved by hand to create a starry sky. Together with the inlaid golden moon, this forms a unique three-dimensional night scene.
The case is presented in 18k white gold, with the usual 41mm diameter and 9.4mm height larger, more modern dimensions than the classic model, but some markets prefer this larger size. The signature engraved balance cock, visible along with the rest of the expertly finished movement through a display case back, also has its recesses filled with a blue coating and features a “25” in the style of the big date display the brand is known for.
As for the movement, A. Lange & Söhne still relies on its hand-wound calibre L095.3. features the typical three-quarter plate made of untreated German silver decorated with Glashütte ribbing. Specifications are also familiar with 72 hours of power reserve and an in-house escapement beating at 3Hz.
Only 25 pieces of the A. Lange & Söhne Grand Lange 1 Moon Phase “25th Anniversary” Ref. 139.066 will be produced. The price is Euro 45,800. ($52,140). Discover Opulent Club on Apple News.
