BMW has just revealed its first-ever BMW M8 Gran Coupe and M8 Competition Gran Coupe. Set to arrive in the United States early next year, the high-performance model follows in the footsteps of the M8 Coupe and Convertible.
Power in the M8 Gran Coupe and M8 Gran Coupe Competition comes from the same twin-turbocharged 4.4-liter V8 found elsewhere in the BMW range. The standard M8 Gran Coupe produces 592 hp (441 kW / 600 PS) and 553 lb-ft (750 Nm) of torque. Buyers looking for more performance can order the M8 Competition Gran Coupe. It features an upgraded engine that develops 616 hp (460 kW / 625 PS) and 553 lb-ft (750 Nm) of torque. Both versions come paired to the same eight-speed automatic transmission and xDrive all-wheel-drive system, and have a limited top speed of 155 mph.
The exterior sees many signature M components like a double-bar kidney grille, M Sports exhaust with quad-10cm exhaust tips and customizable sound modes. The sporty styling continues further back as the Gran Coupe has aerodynamic mirrors, a carbon fiber-reinforced plastic roof and 20-inch lightweight alloy wheels.
BMW is also doing a M8 Gran Coupe Launch Edition that comes in its own unique shade—Diamant Green metallic.
Inside, red detailing helps distinguish the cars from their non-M counterparts. The model also has a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a 10.25-inch infotainment system and a head-up display. Other highlights include carbon fiber trim, ambient lighting and a wireless smartphone charger. Seating for five is standard, with 3D quilting to the leather.
In the United States, the M8 Gran Coupe will start at $130,000 plus $995 destination. The 2020 M8 Gran Coupe Competition, meanwhile, will be from $143,000 plus $995 destination. Production will begin in November 2019. Discover Opulent Club on Apple News.
