Numarine Unveiled Its First Hybrid Explorer Yacht

Numarine has unveiled its much-anticipated 30XP superyacht, marking a significant milestone for the Turkish shipyard. Developed with diesel-electric hybrid propulsion, the new 30XP model signifies a departure from the steel-hulled explorer yachts characteristic of Numarine’s portfolio.

Designed by Can Yalman, who is known for his talent in blending form and function, while the Istanbul-based Ofist Design Studio collaborated on her interior design. One of the 30XP’s most defining traits is her raised pilothouse design, aiming to maximise the use of volume.

“We are delighted with the positive reception for our new Numarine30XP. She is every inch an explorer yacht, just like all our models, with the capability of taking owners and their families far and wide in tremendous comfort and safety. But the addition of the hybrid – electric propulsion option marks the start of a new era of lower emissions for our yachts. We expect this to be a popular choice,” Numarine Chairman Ömer Malaz said of the model.

The 30XP offers significant space and versatility. With a total internal volume of 208 GT, the yacht can accommodate various layouts tailored to owners’ preferences. But this is also a yacht with ample external space on deck, from open air dining on the aft deck to lounging on the covered sundeck. The yacht’s design priorities creating a strong connection with the outdoors.

On the main deck, the light-filled salon is fitted with sliding doors that open to several epic outdoor spaces. Fold-down wings on either side enlarge this space to 46 square metres and provide more options for water sports and swimming. Additionally, a side-loading tender pay to port can store a diesel tender of 5.65-metres. This is design at its very best, with the airiness of the beach club achieved by raising the deck above.

As for the flybridge, the social hub is home to a U-shaped bank of deep sofas and an alfresco dining table seating up to eight people. There is room for a wet bar, and the side decks lead forward to an immense area of sunpads. There is the option for solar panels in the hardtop, which seems almost to float on its fine stainless-steel supports.

The master suite not only includes a private balcony, but also an office space fitted with a study desk facing full-sized windows for a tranquil work setting. The main-deck master suite is also complete with a large dressing room and a bathroom with two basins. Guests are accommodated on the lower deck, where there are four large cabins, comprising two VIP doubles with king-sized beds and standard doubles, all of which are ensuite. Each stateroom also contains large hull windows for an abundance of natural light and seascape views.

The 30XP’s hybrid propulsion can be powered by twin 560hp MAN engines or a dual electric engine system, delivering a maximum speed of approximately 13 knots with an impressive cruising range of 3,000 nautical miles. In the hybrid version, twin electric engines draw their power from 4 x 108kW diesel generators. Electric motors are highly efficient compared to conventional engines, especially at lower RPMs, while multiple smaller generators allow the boat to switch them on and off as required. This system is capable of making dramatic fuel savings compared to a standard diesel powertrain.
