Louis XIII, the legendary Cognac house long associated with royal banquets and state occasions, is venturing into an unexpected domain: luxury tableware. The maison has introduced the Louis XIII Art de la Table Collection, a porcelain collaboration with France’s renowned J.L. Coquet, representing its debut into serveware beyond its iconic decanters and crystal creations.

JL Coquet, a two-century-old French porcelain atelier celebrated for the exceptional clarity of its craft. The Art de la Table debut is composed of two distinct series, each offering six creations: a dinner plate, soup plate, dessert plate, bowl, as well as tea and coffee service.

The first series, Soil is Our Soul, is a tribute to the terroir of Grande Champagne. “We digitally mapped the chalk-rich earth of our Domaine du Grollet and transformed its texture into porcelain an enduring reminder of our origins,” explains Anne-Laure Pressat. “It symbolizes that the essence of Louis XIII is born from the ground itself.”

The second series, Light of Time, draws inspiration from the cellars where Louis XIII’s eaux-de-vie rest and evolve. JL Coquet shaped the porcelain with faceted surfaces that reflect and refract light, mirroring the brilliance of the iconic crystal decanter. Each piece is finished with hand painted copper accents, a subtle nod to the warm amber glow of cognac itself.

Each edition is individually numbered, limited to just 750 worldwide positioning them as the haute couture of porcelain. With prices ranging from $3,400 to $4,000, the pieces transcend function; they are collectible works of art presented in the form of tableware.

Anne-Laure Pressat, Executive Director of LOUIS XIII, calls the debut “a new chapter in the maison’s art de vivre” and the sentiment resonates. The collections are designed to spark dialogue, transforming each course into a celebration of tradition, artistry, and creative vision. True to LOUIS XIII’s uncompromising spirit, the launch is accompanied by intimate dinner events in France, the UK, and the United States, offering select guests the rare opportunity to experience the collection in its intended setting.
