Project Ananda: Heesen’s 72-Metre Expression of Modern Nautical Opulence

Dutch shipyard Heesen Yachts has introduced Project Ananda, a 72.3-metre steel superyacht marking the largest vessel of its kind ever produced by the brand.

Developed in close partnership with Sinot Yacht Architecture & Design, the project continues Heesen’s on-spec construction philosophy while also signaling a new chapter for the shipyard following its acquisition by Laurens Last. Positioned as the inaugural build under this refreshed strategic direction, Project Ananda reflects a more client-centric evolution of Heesen’s Smart Custom platform, offering enhanced flexibility and deep personalization throughout the yacht. Construction is scheduled to commence in November 2026, with delivery anticipated in 2030.

Named after the Sanskrit word for “inner joy,” Ananda is conceived as a sanctuary of elevated onboard living, where experience and wellbeing take center stage. Early collaboration between Sinot and Heesen’s in-house engineering teams ensured a design language that could be realized without compromise preserving Heesen’s recognizable profile while introducing softer, more fluid and organic lines.

Guest experience has been placed at the heart of the design. Boarding begins via a midships shell door and dedicated docking platform, leading into the yacht through a central glass elevator that connects all five decks. The layout emphasizes seamless circulation and layered privacy, with adaptable configurations for the owner’s deck, including both forward-facing private retreat and aft-oriented lifestyle arrangement options.

The foredeck master suite is envisioned as a private apartment at sea, complete with a dedicated office and sweeping forward views, while a second master suite on the bridge deck provides equal scale and comfort, ideal for charter or multi-generational use.

Lifestyle amenities further define the yacht’s identity. A travertine-lined pool deck flows directly into a Teppanyaki-style bar within the main lounge, with continuous flooring blurring the boundary between indoor and outdoor spaces. The design allows the area to transform effortlessly from a relaxed daytime environment into a social entertainment space, supported by a fully flush deck free of visible mooring equipment.

Wellness is a defining pillar of Project Ananda. Developed alongside Heesen’s Human Health Engineering division, the nearly 100-square-metre midship spa and beach club includes a sauna, steam room, ice bath, snow shower, hyperbaric chamber, massage suite, and dedicated medical treatment space, complemented by an integrated bar for leisure and recovery.

All interior spaces, totaling approximately 1,750 GT and designed by Sinot, will be executed in-house by Heesen Interiors in Winterswijk, ensuring complete design continuity and craftsmanship precision.

Under the hood, Ananda is built on an ultra-efficient steel hull and powered by a hybrid propulsion system featuring twin MTU IMO Tier III engines paired with PTI/PTO gearboxes, enabling silent cruising for up to four hours. The yacht is expected to achieve a range of 5,000 nautical miles at 12 knots and a top speed of 16 knots.
