Arnold & Son Perpetual Moon Obsidian

Arnold & Son announced a 28-piece limited edition of the Perpetual Moon timepiece adorned with an extraordinary material rarely seen in watchmaking. With a dial made from Mexican golden obsidian stone.

This timepiece appears to be bathed in bronze moonlight. The stone is reflected in the large rhodium-plated moon and the perfectly polished sword-shaped hour and minutes hands and matching diamond-polished white gold hour-markers. The result is an interplay of reflections, vibrations and warmth that echoes the light of Earth’s satellite.

“This volcanic stone has been mined in Central America since time immemorial and was known to have been used by pre-Columbian civilizations in their religious ceremonies. Obsidian has a very high silica content, making this material both hard and highly reflective,” according to Arnold & Son.

Housed in a 42 mm red gold case, beneath a rarely seen golden obsidian dial, is its hand-wound Arnold & Son in-house caliber A&S1512 with 27 jewels, 21,600 vph and a power reserve of 90 hours. Functions are: hours, minutes, big perpetual moonphase, and a second moonphase indication on the back with the 4 major and 4 minor phases of the moon, controlled by the crown which allows you to set the display on the dial side via the visual display on the backside.

It comes on a hand-made blue alligator leather strap with silver constrast stitching and an 18kt red gold pin buckle with visible silver-colored topstitching. Water-resistance is rated to 30 meters. Retail is $35,100. Learn more at Arnold & Son. Discover Opulent Club on Apple News.
