A. Lange & Söhne created a special version of its Saxonia Annual Calendar that will be exclusively available through the brand’s US boutiques in New York, Miami and Costa Mesa. Already available in three different versions – white gold, pink gold and platinum – the Saxonia Annual Calendar collection receives a fourth member, which differs from its siblings by its dial, its strap and a new treatment on the rotor.
Limited to only 25 pieces, this edition comes in a 38.5 mm x 9.8 mm white-gold case with a grey dial. As an annual calendar, it features multiple indications on its dial: day of the week, the signature ALS large date with two digits, the month and a combination of a small seconds counter and a moon phase at 6 o’clock – the moon phase indicator is very precise and only needs to be corrected by one day every 122.6 years.
The self-winding SAX-0-MAT automatic caliber with a 46-hour power reserve features Lange’s patented Zero-Reset function. Pulling the crown causes the movement to stop with the second hand jumping to the zero position, making it easy to accurately set the time. Ample power is delivered by the 21k gold bidirectional winding rotor.
The blue, starry background of the moon phase disk nicely matches the shiny blue alligator strap while the outsize date is realised with white numerals on a grey background which harmonises with the colour of the dial. Rhodium-plated hands for the dial and three subdials at 3, 6 and 9 o’clock complete the look.
A sapphire-crystal caseback reveals the movement along with the well-known Lange finishes. All parts are individually decorated and polished by hand. The classic screw balance oscillates beneath the hand-engraved balance cock. The three-quarter plate is made of untreated German silver.
The A. Lange & Söhne Saxonia Annual Calendar US Edition (ref. 330.039) has a retail price of US$ 54,500. alange-soehne.com
