The $240K Bugatti Calandre Table Clock: A Masterpiece of Art

Jacob & Co. has partnered with Bugatti and French crystal artisan Lalique to unveil the Bugatti Calandre—a limited-edition table clock that seamlessly blends haute horology with automotive design.  It’s a living sculpture breathing, ticking, and glowing with a rare blend of timeless elegance and cutting-edge engineering that only this trio could achieve. Building on the legacy of the acclaimed Bugatti Tourbillon wristwatch launched in 2024, it ventures boldly into uncharted territory where Art Deco style intersects with hypercar innovation.

Measuring 264 by 196 mm, this clock is masterfully crafted from Lalique crystal and features twin “Dancing Elephants” that pay homage to Bugatti’s sculptural legacy rooted in the Type 41 Royale. Their balanced symmetry recalls classic Lalique timepieces while firmly grounding the design in Bugatti’s storied history.

The name Calandre is a nod to the French word for radiator grille, evoking the signature Bugatti horseshoe front. Behind this iconic grille, a vertical flying tourbillon quietly rotates, reflecting the same intricate mechanism found in the brand’s recently unveiled Bugatti Tourbillon hyper sports car.

At the heart of the grille beneath the clock hands lies a vertical flying tourbillon, directly inspired by Bugatti’s recently launched Bugatti Tourbillon hyper sports car.  The JCAM58 movement powering this table clock offers an impressive eight-day power reserve, driven by a manually wound caliber. Time setting and winding are carried out using a special key inserted into the caseback, blending tradition with precision engineering.

This table clock’s winding ritual is unique: a custom key fits into the caseback with precision and ease. The centerpiece a 30 mm red gemstone in Jacob & Co.’s signature 288-facet “Jacob Cut” shines like the Bugatti Macaron badge, adding a touch of high jewelry brilliance.

The case, featuring the two-elephant design, is crafted by Lalique from French-molded crystal, transforming the timepiece into a true objet d’art. It was meticulously handcrafted in Lalique’s historic workshops in Wingen-sur-Moder, eastern France. The case is crafted using 19th-century techniques: molten crystal is poured into steel molds, cooled, then hand-finished by artisans over months. The crystal’s clarity highlights every detail, while the frosted and polished surfaces add depth and texture to the sculpted elephants, Lalique explained.

Limited to 99 pieces the Jacob & Co. x Bugatti Calandre Table Clock retails for an eye-popping $240,000,  this is a rarefied work of mechanical art meant for spaces that celebrate the extraordinary.
