Brabus P900 Rocket Edition: The 900-HP G-Wagen Pickup

Brabus has turned the Mercedes-AMG G63 into a 900-horsepower pickup, creating one of its most audacious G-Class commissions yet. The P900 Rocket Edition keeps the model’s unmistakable box-shaped cabin, but trades its rear roof for an open cargo bed. Only 10 examples are planned, with pricing starting at approximately $800,000 before tax.

For G-Class devotees, the transformation combines two familiar draws: the G63’s AMG V8 and its rugged, utilitarian roots. Brabus adds a dramatic body conversion and a heavily reworked powertrain, making the P900 a limited-run statement piece as much as a performance machine.

A G63 Reworked Into a Pickup

The P900 retains seating for two rows, while the rear roof gives way to a bespoke bed with a steel floor, metal tailgate, and carbon-fibre side panels. Teak decking and a pair of lockable, waterproof storage compartments add a tailored finish. Red Brabus lettering across the bed makes the conversion unmistakable.

The change required extensive work beneath the body. Brabus extended the ladder-frame chassis and wheelbase by 19.7 inches, repositioning the rear suspension to suit. At 211.8 inches long, the pickup is roughly two feet longer than a standard G63. Its rear doors open to 90 degrees, and passengers in the second row have a dedicated display for speed, engine revolutions, outside temperature, G-forces, and time.

Power From a 4.5-Litre V8

Brabus enlarges the G63’s twin-turbocharged 4.0-litre V8 to 4.5 litres, fitting forged pistons, a billet crankshaft, and larger turbochargers. Output is quoted at 888 to 900 horsepower, depending on the measurement, with peak torque of 922 lb-ft. Torque is electronically limited to 774 lb-ft to protect the drivetrain.

A nine-speed automatic transmission sends power to all four wheels. Brabus states a 0–62 mph time of 3.7 seconds and a top speed of 149 mph. That figure falls short of the Ram 1500 Rumble Bee SRT’s claimed 3.4-second sprint, but outright acceleration is only part of the P900’s appeal.

A Different Kind of Brabus G-Wagen

Brabus has previously transformed the G-Class into a series of extreme pickups, including the portal-axle 800 Adventure XLP, the 900 XLP, and the six-wheel-drive XLP 800 6×6 Adventure. Those models emphasised ground clearance and off-road capability. The P900 takes a more road-focused approach: it sits 1.8 inches lower on coilovers and rides on 24-inch Monoblock II EVO wheels fitted with Hankook tyres.

The Rocket name has marked the upper tier of Brabus performance since 2005. More recently, the badge has appeared on the 900 Rocket Edition SUV and an open-top Rocket Cabrio. The P900 extends that lineage with a carbon-fibre-accented pickup conversion built in exceptionally small numbers. At around $800,000 before tax, it is aimed at buyers for whom conventional G-Class excess is only the starting point.
