In a striking display of craftsmanship and innovation, Tankoa Yachts, in collaboration with the esteemed Nauta Design, recently announced the launch of the 70mt Milano. Drawing inspiration from Milan, a city known for its elegance and innovative design, the Milano project mirrors these qualities.
The yacht’s design pays homage to Milan’s rich heritage in design and creativity, with impressive dimensions and captivating aesthetics. According to Mario Pedol of Nauta Design, the yacht’s design philosophy was to create a seamless connection with the sea and horizon, achieving a visual harmony that invokes lightness, purity, and serenity.
Measuring an impressive 70 meters in length overall, with a beam of 11.80 meters and a draft of 3.50 meters, the project boasts clean lines that exude purity and balance. These modern and refined exteriors reflect a timeless design inherent to Tankoa and Nauta’s DNA. Milano stands out with its distinct features, particularly the stern area, which features an extensive beach club, complete with a lounge, gym, sauna, massage room, and innovative folding hull platforms. The design incorporates an exterior swimming pool and a sun lounging area that can be customized to the owner’s liking.
Interiors are “delicate” and “not over-designed”, according to Majno, with renderings revealing a white and coral colour palette and “environmentally friendly” materials. This includes the use of natural woods, textured stones and leathers.
The main deck connects the beach area with an elegant open-air lounge and dining area, alongside VIP staterooms with unique fold-out terraces. The upper deck is a sanctuary for the owner, featuring a luxurious suite with panoramic views, a private pool, helipad access, and a sky lounge and outdoor dining area. The yacht also boasts a cinema room and a sundeck designed for ultimate relaxation and entertainment.
But Milano isn’t just a feast for the senses it’s also a feat of engineering. A key feature of Milano is the single-tier diesel-electric engine room located on the under-lower deck, facilitating direct access from the guest accommodation to the beach club.
Milano can be equipped either with diesel-electric propulsion system or methanol fuel cells providing up to 200kWh of power. The diesel-electric setup will allow the yacht to reach a top speed of 16.5 knots as well as power the hotel load. Tankoa was founded in 2007 and began production in 2008. A true “boutique shipyard”, focused on building semi-custom and custom constructions 45-meter and up.
