In celebration of its 100th anniversary today, Bentley has just officially revealed the EXP 100 GT a concept designed to pay tribute to triumphs past and present. The EXP 100 is pure electric, with Bentley claiming that developments in battery technology and the arrival of solid-state cells will enable a car this large and grand to have a range of over 400 miles within the next 15 years or so.
“The EXP 100 GT is a canvas for what makes the future of luxury,” director of design Stefan Sielaff tells me at the reveal at the HQ in Crewe, UK. “It represents the kind of cars we want to make in the future. Like those iconic Bentleys of the past, this car connects with its passengers’ emotions and helps them experience and safeguard the memories of the really extraordinary journeys they take.”
Four motors will provide 1,500 ft lbs of torque and enable the vehicle to sprint from zero to 60 mph in 2.5 seconds and reach 186 mph. And the targeted range is 435 miles on a battery that can be recharged to 80-percent capacity in 15 minutes.
It is a long and opulent coupe the concept is 228 inches long but despite the length of the passenger cabin, it only has two doors pivoting outwards and upwards “adding to the sense of occasion on arrival,” it said.
Of course, this is a Bentley, so the full panoply of standard and optional luxuries are either available or already installed. The open-air cabin also features embedded biometrics to track eye and head movements, as well as blood pressure, representing what the future of bespoke luxury vehicles holds.
Of course, like most concept cars, this is all strictly science fiction for now. Bentley’s vision of the future, though the carmaker is apparently still mulling the possibilities of fuel cell vehicles. Discover Opulent Club on Apple News.
