The Italian luxury brand Tod’s launched its new boutique concept, the Sloane Apartment, by architect India Mahdavi in Kensington during London Fashion Week. The store on Chelsea’s smart Sloane Street. Mahdavi also collaborated with the brand on a bold special edition of its classic Gommino bag, updated with a graphic design that plays with contrasting colors and textures.
A high-impact color scheme with brass, velvet, Italian marble flooring and even a bar for a proper expresso. The two-floor space includes a bar by the entrance, so customers can have a bit to drink as they peruse the latest collection’s offerings.
New Tod’s space is admittedly not the clothing itself. Instead, it is the groovy residential-style interiors. A curvaceous leather-paneled room that houses men’s shoes is the closest you’ll get to the traditional store experience. Instead, Mahdavi has focused on crafting vignettes that frame the brand’s leather goods: A plush yellow velvet L-shaped couch faces a bookshelf artfully stocked with shoes, coffees and cocktails are free-flowing.
