Author Henry Miller once famously said, “One’s destination is never a place but rather a new way of looking at things”. Luxury lifestyle brand Hermès seems to embody this phrase. French luxury brand Hermès finds a new home in India’s logo-lusting capital just in time for the festive season. In 2008, Hermès found its home in the Oberoi Hotel in Delhi, after which the label shifted base temporarily to the DLF Emporio, and now has a spanking new space in luxury mall, The Chanakya.
The 170-year-old French luxury brand, best known for its scarves, neckties, and the iconic Birkin bags. The space was designed by French architecture agency RDAI under the leadership of Denis Montel, and its no-fuss interior will appeal to taste of the determined shopper. Inspired by the peacock, the interiors of the space sparkle with iridescent metallic finishes. Starting with the silk department, the store also houses menswear, womenswear and leather goods. The store also boasts of a private room for VIP clientele and a salon for the jewellery and watch collections.
As soon as you enter the store, through the glistening double glass portal made of sage green lacquered metal, you will find yourself walking on the iconic Hermès ex-libris floor. Throughout the store, visitors will notice discreet touches of iridescent blue-green in certain fabrics, at the centre of the mosaic pattern or in metallic finishes. These opalescent details were wilfully inspired by the peacock’s feathers.
If you’re looking for a luxury shopping experience in a space that’s rich with historical references, head to the Hermès store to treat yourself to a Birkin or a hand-rolled scarf. Scroll through our gallery for your exclusive first look at the store.
