Next month at Fort Lauderdale, this 2008 Ferrari F430 Challenge painted by the U.K. artist Ben Levy will be heading auction though RM Sotheby’s. As you can see, it’s based on a Ferrari – one of three painted by different artists for the 2015 Art Basel festival in Miami. But it’s not just any Ferrari. This is a Ferrari race car.
British pop artist has decorated the black body of Ferrari F430 with calligraphy art in multitude of colors and styles. All of it is meticulously done with spray cans.
The F430 Challenge is a non-road legal variant of the Ferrari F430, modified with a 4.3 L Ferrari F136 E V8 engine with 6 speed sequential manual, 483 horsepower and 343 lb-ft of torque. But its exhaust system, suspension, brakes, wheels, tires, and cockpit are all specific to the racing model. In fact it was the first Ferrari sports car to employ carbon-ceramic brakes.
Bidding for this Ferrari F430 Challenge is expected to fetch somewhere between $120,000 – $160,000 part of the proceeds benefitting Miami Children’s Health Foundation.
